The Kerlin Gallery is pleased to announce an exhibition of new paintings by Fionnuala Ní Chiosáin.

Fionnuala Ní Chiosáin's new paintings continue to employ her distinctively individual and highly inventive layering of paint and sumi ink, however they mark a new departure for the artist creating images that move with ease between the abstract and the representational. Ní Chiosáin's paintings employ a mix of evocative colour, measured figurative references, recurring motifs and painterly forms resulting in work that is concerned with memory and the suggestion of landscape.

Fionnuala Ní Chiosáin has exhibited extensively in major international shows including '12 Young Artists from Ireland', Itami City Museum of Art, Japan, 1995; 'L'Imaginaire Irlandais', l'Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Paris, 1996; 'A Century of Irish Paining' which toured Japan in 1997; 'A Measured Quietude', Drawing Centre, New York in 1999 and more recently 'Irish Art Now: From the Poetic to the Political', McMullen Museum of Art, Boston College; Art Gallery of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada; Chicago Cultural Center, Chicago.

Her work is represented in the collections of the Irish Museum of Modern Art, The Municipal Gallery of Modern Art, Dublin, The Office of Public Works and Deutsche Morgan Grenfell, London as well as many other private collections in Europe and the USA.
