Backstory Session with Dónal Dineen

Kerlin Gallery presents an evening of music, art and drinks with celebrated Irish DJ Donal Dineen

Kerlin Gallery is turning up the volume this Dublin Gallery Weekend, welcoming legendary Irish DJ and broadcaster Donal Dineen for a special Back Story Session on Friday, 6 November, from 7–9pm. Taking place alongside an exhibition of paintings by Elizabeth Magill, the evening will celebrate the meeting of contemporary art and music, inviting visitors explore the gallery, enjoy a cocktail and discover some extraordinary music.

Dónal Dineen’s Backstory Dances hold down an exalted position within the capital’s underground dance scene. The unerring attention to detail on the quality of the music has seen its reputation soar to become something of a touchstone for discerning dancers both in Dublin town and further afield. The Backstory motto “All the colours, every dancing mood” has served it well and the atmosphere generated on one heady night after another has become the stuff of legend. Dónal’s own sets are like alternative guides to the musical universe with no stone left unturned in his mission to unearth vinyl gems from all corners of the globe.

The event follows the launch of two specially commissioned limited-edition prints by internationally celebrated artist Nathalie Du Pasquier, presented as part of a Dublin Gallery Weekend initiative to make collecting contemporary art more accessible. Bringing together art enthusiasts, music lovers and those discovering the gallery for the first time, the event reflects Dublin Gallery Weekend's ambition to open up the city's contemporary art scene to new audiences.
