Museo d’Arte Contemporane di Villa Croce and Museo d’Arte Orientale E. Chiossone, both in Genoa, are delighted to present Living through paint(ing) – Part II, an exhibition of new paintings and works on paper by Richard Gorman. 

In collaboration with the Hugh Lane Gallery, Dublin this exhibition highlights the interplay between colour and form. 

In this new body of work, Richard Gorman transforms painting into a spatial art, made by outlines, fragmentation and overlapping, creating the illusion of space that constantly takes form and comes alive through colour.

Gorman’s colour fields shift and mutate from one work to another in relation to the exhibition space of the Museo di Villa Croce. Meanwhile, an installation of Japanese handmade works on paper opens a dialogue with the permanent collection of Museo E. Chiossone, together with a video presentation about the artist’s practice and connection with Japanese paper-making traditions. 

The exhibitions are kindly supported by Culture Ireland and the Embassy of Ireland, Italy, with sponsorship from the General Japanese Consulate, Milan and assistance from Kerlin Gallery, Dublin.
